The New York City Triathlon is an Olympic Distance race consisting of a 1500m swim, a 40k bike, and a 10k run.
Each year over 3,000 athletes brave the waters of the mighty Hudson River before biking along Manhattan's West Side highway. Finally, athletes put on their running shoes for a run through New York's famed Central Park.

Jamaica Underwear Run
The Jamaica Underwear Run is a 1.7 mile fun run that takes place in Central Park every year on the Friday before the New York City Triathlon. No transitions, no timing chips, no expensive race gear, just 500 strangers running around in their underwear. Another typical summer evening in New York City!
Animal Medical Center Doggy Dash
For far too long, canine athletes have faithfully trained alongside their human counterparts, only to be left on the sidelines on race day. No longer! The Animal Medical Center Doggy Dash gives man (or woman) and best friend the chance to compete in tandem over a 5-mile run course.
The Diaper Derby provides future triathletes with an opportunity to get a head start. The slowest two minutes in sports, diaper derby-ists crawl 10 feet past flashing cameras and smiling spectators as parents wave cars, stuffed animals, cell phones and keys to entice the diaper-clad youngsters to cross the finish line. Great fun for all!
